What did you learn from this documentary?
From this documentary I learned a lot, dirt has many living organisms. Dirt is formed from many different things, garbage forms dirt and our planet needs dirt to survive. Mud can be used for so many different things, people value it differently. Pesticides take away the structure, organisms and water from the soil. Anything that kills insects can kill humans as well, our bodies are not made to put fertilizers into our body. only 20% of nitrogen is absorbed by the plants and the access runs into streams and down the Mississippi and then the Gulf of Mexico and creates more and more algae that the suffocates the sea life. Only jelly fish can thrive and then that leads to a mass dead zone in the ocean. Farming is begging to be more and more expensive, lots of people are losing their farms and now they are becoming GMO farms. Lots of people find good things in dirt and farming, it is a form of relaxation and getting to plant food for yourself can help your overall emotional attitude. I also realized that many people have a spiritual connection with dirt and believe it can be used to heal and help their crops. Some people travel far and wide to one place to get "sacred dirt" to help them at home and with any problems that they may have run into.
What is your own relationship to your food?
The food I eat comes from all over the world, I try not to eat GMO foods and food grown with lots of pesticides. We have a garden at home and grow our own food, we grow organic food that does not get sprayed with anything.
