Monsanto Reflection
How has Monsanto influenced global food security?
Monsanto has added to the many bad food security processes by adding more and more pollution and chemicals to our crops. Anything that can kill bugs and other living organisms cannot be good for humans. Monsanto has produced many bad chemicals that have added to people’s health problems and farmers that want to plant their own crops with the seeds from their crop before are not allowed. Due to the fact that Monsanto does not allow them, they want people to plant their GMO seeds. Monsanto was watching people die because their levels on PCB's were so high. They knew this was happening and didn't tell anyone.
How do you feel about eating food that is grown with pesticides?
I feel very strongly towards eating foods with pesticides, if they are not good for animals and kill them then they should not be legal for us to consume. After hearing about the agent orange effect on people I want to go completely organic because I don’t believe that consuming these products is good for us. Only 20% of the actual spray that is sprayed on the plants is absorbed the rest runs into drains and then the ocean and kills many km of sea life.
How can you manage pests if you scale up your growing technique to be a community of city-sizes agricultural project?
There are so many other ways that you can manage pests then spraying all your crops with pesticides. I think they they could use organic was of removing pests
Seed-saving and the Svaldbard global food vault is a very unique idea that sounds like it could really help the world in the long run if we had a global catastrophe.
Why is the role of seed-saving in global food security and how does it relate to Monsanto?
The role of seed saving in global food security is a good idea because at the rate that Monsanto is moving their is going to be no none GMO seeds and food out in the world. This relates to Monsanto because it is being made as a result of climate change to make sure the world has food if anything were to happen.
